In November 2010, Waikato Sunrise entered a working partnership with ZEAL, to support the development of a state of the art Youth facility in Hamilton, based around the performing arts.
ZEAL is a not-for-profit youth organisation that exists for the advancement of young people in the creative arts, leadership and education. For more than a decade, Zeal has supported young people through development pathways and events at its purpose-built youth facilities in Wellington and Auckland. And now Zeal is coming to Hamilton. In July 2011, Waikato Sunrise raised $4000 from the Chenery Memorial Trust towards establishment funds for a mobile ZEAL coffee cart, and also pledged $30,000 of club funds towards the purpose built youth facility.
In 2010, Waikato Sunrise donated $6000 to assist with the scoping out phase of the ZEAL Hamilton project. Members Rod Tombleson, Richard Stapel, and Mitchell Smith moved from our Innovation Committee to the ZEAL Working group, to continue partnering ZEAL in the scoping out phase including raising funds for the mobile ZEAL coffee cart and the purpose-built Hamilton youth facility.
